An early spring delicacy - this onion relative is found in rich damp soil in deep woods. The broad onion/garlic flavored leaves are consumed - there are numerous festivals throughout Appalachia devoted to this plant. Probably because if you're eating it, everybody else better if you all want to get along. spreads by seed as well as bulb division.
