Native to Canada and much of the U.S. The multitudes of tiny blue flowers make this a very attractive addition to the garden; it's a popular element in wildflower seed mixes. An extract of the dried leaves has been used as a tonic, emetic, and expectorant. It has been used to treat tension, depression, and hysteria. The Iroquois used a cold infusion of smashed leaves to make obnoxious people leave. There really is an herb for everything - although I just throw cold water on them. Good butterfly plant; Cardinals, Sparrows and Juncos will all eat the seeds.
