A Chinese native with a long history of medicinal use, mainly as a brain tonic and memory enhancer (leaves). The stinking fruits of the female tree contain a nut considered to be a delicacy in China. Ours are started from seed, so the sex of these seedlings is unknown. They don't flower until they are 20 years old or so, at which point they may be 35' tall. A very attractive and useful tree in the landscape.
