Native to S. Texas, New Mexico south through Central America. NOT a true oregano - it is named for the way in which it is used. Goes well with tomato based dishes, meats, beans, even cheesecake. For authentic Southwestern Chili. Very piquant flavor, different(and many think better) than that of the Origanums. Tea from the leaves is used to treat colds, stomach pains and diarrhea. Research into anti-oxident flavinoids found in this plant is promising. Grows huge in rich soil and fairly constant moisture but is native to dry, rocky/sandy areas. We've never found seeds on our freely flowering stock plants; propagation through cuttings is easy. Fast growing - easy indoors with bright light.

Temporarily out of stock. Please check back soon.
