Small deciduous citrus tree from China, hardy to zone 6 with protection. Branches support 2" sharp spines(classic hedgerow plant) - multitudes of white flowers in spring are followed by 2" sour! but aromatic oranges that smell more like peaches than oranges. The fruit is made into wine and conserves. The dried peel is used to aid digestion, relieve constipation and loosen pulmonary congestion. The rootstock is used as grafting stock to produce hardier sweet orange trees. Our 20 year old tree is 12' x 9' and has been producing oranges (outside) for 15 years now.
