Primary commercial menthol source in Japan. The essential oil is up to 90% menthol. It is used as a fragrance in toothpaste, mouthwash, gargles, soaps, detergents, creams, lotions, and perfumes. It also has antiseptic, anesthetic and antispasmodic properties.
