Fabulous culinary herb - one of the best Oreganos for cooking. A standard in pasta and tomato sauces of all kinds and also good with meats. It is considered to be antifungal, antibacterial and antioxident. Tea is used to treat indigestion and colds. Highly pungent and easy to grow, it prefers a dry poor soil with good drainage. Masses of white flowers are a favorite of honeybees. O. vulgare is often sold as this resulting in culinary disappointment - the leaves of this have a bite!
