An unusual and attractive plant - highly recommended for the shade garden. Native Americans used the corms for food after boiling them to remove the crystals of calcium oxalate but if not prepared correctly can have dire consequences. I would advise just appreciating the plant in the garden. Has been used as a carminitive, expectorant, diaphoretic, and anti-spasmodic.
