Violet-to-lavender fuzzy flowers with protruding white tongues appear profusely on a large handsome bush. Spectacular flowers in fall are attractive to bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. Prefers dry sandy soil in full sun - drought tolerant. We never it expect but this occasionally overwinters for us. An interesting factoid from Wikipedia - this plant contains the compound caryophyllene which is also found in Cloves, Black Pepper, Rosemary and Cannabis. Caryophyllene oxide is what causes drug sniffing dogs to identify Cannabis. Hmmm... Native to Central and Southern Mexico.
