Tea made from this is used to aid digestion, circulation and also to increase lactation. Recommended for the plague in the 16th century, this plant has been considered a cure-all. Commonly grown in monasteries - hence the name. This low-growing thistle has red stems, yellow flowers, and weak spines except on the seed pods. Easy from seed.
