Leaves are dark green above and downy white below. The roots and leaves can be used for tea; leaves were once used to season poultry. The tops have been used as bitters in brewing, as a digestive stimulant, and to regulate menstruation. In China the leaves are used to make moxa to apply heat to acupuncture points, treat headaches, asthma, jaundice, and to stop bleeding. Commonly used in dream pillows. Native to Asia and Europe, it has naturalized in the Eastern US and can be invasive.
