One of our most valuable native medicinals. The knotted yellow root is used to treat inflammations of the mucus membranes. It has astringent and antibiotic properties - the latter due to the presence of berberine. Exercise moderation with internal use as excessive amounts are harmful. Requires full forest (or simulated) shade and soil with lots of organic material and moisture. We ship two year old nursery grown (certified organic) roots. Plants will produce seed the third year and are harvestable and/or divisible by the fourth year.
