Source of citronella oil - an effective insect repellent. Similar to Lemon Grass in appearance, its grass-like leaves are more slender with a reddish base; unlike Lemon Grass this readily flowers in temperate climates. Easily divided - keep several in tubs on the patio to repel mosquitoes. Crush the leaves to release more essential oils.
