This Eastern European native is commercially grown for the production of digoxin, a cardiac glycoside used to treat several heart conditions. The leaves have also been used in preparations to treat asthma, wounds and burns. The flower has a grey lip and pale tube with brownish-purple netting. Quite a nice plant. An impressive display can be made of various foxglove varieties massed together.
