This sweetly aromatic culinary plant is an indispensable seasoning for meat, goose, and vegetable dishes. Keep some indoors to scent the air; no cook should be without it. The powdered leaves were once used as a snuff to relieve congestion; an infusion of leaves is good for coughs, sore throats, indigestion and as an ani-inflammatory. The essential oil is used in cosmetics - skin creams, lotions, shaving gel and soaps. Not the same plant as "Hardy Marjoram" or "Hardy Sweet Marjoram". Easy indoor plant with good light. Indigenous to Cyprus and southern Turkey.
