Flashy red flowers, the leaves have a distinct sweet pineapple aroma. A superb ornamental which will attract hummingbirds, butterflies, and passersby. The leaves are edible and in Mexico are used to reduce both anxiety and blood pressure. Fresh leaves make a great cup of tea but the leaves lose something in drying. Fresh leaves and flowers can be used in baking and beverages. Native to Mexico and Guatemala.
