A large native of the E. U.S.; prefers moist open fields and river bottoms. Impressive in flower; tiny, pinkish flowers form a conical flower head eighteen inches across and two feet tall on a 8 to 10 foot stalk. Roots have been used as diuretic, stimulant, astringent, tonic and in love potions. Attractive to butterflies and bees.
