Shade-loving distinctive 8-petaled white spring flower similar to bloodroot. The six-inch soft green leaves are divided into two kidney-shaped segments. The root has been used as an expectorant, emetic, diuretic, tonic, and alternative. Named after Thomas Jefferson.
