This Ginger relative is stimulant, diuretic, and anti-rheumatic. It is one of the commonly "unidentifiable" ingredients in many dishes from Southeast Asia and India. From the same botanical family as ginger, the root adds a pungent and spicy flavor to foods. The oil is valued in perfumery. Used it to increase the "fieriness" of their horses' dispositions. In India it has been used as an aphrodisiac and to cure impotence. This plant keeps it's leaves year round unlike some in this family. Roots can be divided for use or replanting any time. Keep above 50 degrees F. In 4" pots.
