Rare plant from Southern Mexico. A tea or extract of the plant is said to induce sleep with particularly vivid dream episodes; used by shaman in divinatory medicine to locate lost objects and reveal answers to personal and communal problems. Traditionally it has been used to treat fevers, dysentery, diarrhea and asthma. Now renamed Calea ternifolia - zacatechichi is from the Nahuatl language and means "bitter grass". Easy house plant where not hardy - give it a lot of light and keep it on the dry side over winter. See separate listing for dried leaf.
