Abundant edible star-shaped blue flowers are cucumber flavored. The hairy leaves are a good source of potassium, calcium and silica but modern research suggests consumption of leaf tea may cause liver problems due to pyrrolizidine alkaloids. The seeds are a major commercial source of gamma-linolenic acid in the form of oil and are high in polyunsaturated fats. Easy to grow from seed, and it reseeds readily. Resents transplanting - sow where you want it to grow. Prefers average to rich garden soil in full sun. Host plant for the American Painted Lady butterfly. Diuretic, demulcent and emollient in action. From Spain, Morocco. Packet(Standard): $3.50; 1/8 oz: $4.50; 1/4oz: $8.50; 1/2 oz: $16.00; 1 oz: $30.00 - 1,800 seeds/oz
