In our beds this Asteraceae family member reaches 3 feet tall covered in bright yellow 1 1/2" flowers loved by bees and other pollinators. Used in traditional medicine it has similar uses as the European Arnica montana and A. chamissonis - to treat bruises, wounds, swelling and muscular pain. Planted in full sun in regular garden soil it has flourished through drought, deluges, and our zone 6 winters. And so far the deer leave it alone and it reseeds itself nicely.
