True pyrethrum; the showy two-inch flowers have yellow centers and light to dark pink or red rays. The dried flower heads are ground and used as a very effective insecticide which is only mildly toxic to mammals. As a dried powder it retains its potency indefinitely but breaks down quickly once exposed to sunlight; we make extensive use of this in our greenhouses. Easily grown in average garden soil.
