A highly aromatic plant with sweetly scented leaves and spikes of royal blue flowers. Native to Southern California, Northern Baja. The seeds were a traditional food of native Californians. The leaves have been used for coughs, earaches and sore throats as well as seasoning. This is one of the strongest scented Salvias and makes excellent potpourri material. Hardy only to 20 degrees or so, it prefers dry soil and full sun. Attractive to butterflies, bees and hummingbirds but repellant to deer(although they have walked on and broken ours trying to get to other things). Drought resistant.
