Native to eastern North America, this is a rhizatomaceous plant with 3/4" pink flowers. Used to induce menstruation, sweating, and urination. Said to be stimulant, tonic, and to be useful in treating hysteria, restlessness, and insomnia. Honeybees love this plant - it also attracts Skippers and other butterflies as well as Hummingbirds and Hummingbird moths. Prefers damp soils, where it can form large colonies. Also known as Wood Sage.
