Fast-growing attractive ground cover for areas with mild winters. Hardy to 30 degrees F. The leaves have a curious and amazingly sweet flavor due to hernandulcin - a compound named for the Spanish physician who first described the plant to Europeans. It is said to be more than 1000 times sweeter than sugar. Up to 53% of the plant's essential oil is camphor so ingestion of the leaves is not recommended in any significant quantity. An attractive curiosity. Excellent in hanging baskets the leaves turn red when temps drop below 50 degrees F. Packet(Standard): $3.50
