The large coarse leaves are up to fifteen inches long. The quarter-inch white flowers are in broad flat-topped clusters. The flowering tops have been used to treat fevers; the roots are diuretic and have been used to treat kidney ailments. They are said to stimulate the immune system. A poltice of fresh leaves soothes burns. Attractive to bees and butterflies.
