This plant, the source of coffee beans, provides Juan Valdez with his only income. The fragrant white flowers clustered at the leaf axils are followed by red berries which are hand picked by Juan. With its glossy green leaves it makes an attractive tub plant in the north. Ours flowered after 5 years - our first harvest was 28 beans! The multitudes of tiny white flowers are exceptionally fragrant. Coffee plants prefer dappled sun, regular watering and high humidity. They prefer peat based potting soils as they tend to be on the acidic side.
