This is an easy to grow succulent in the same family as Indian Hemp and Dogbane (Apocynacea). Native to arid regions in Southern Africa, it's main attraction for most are its large fleshy flowers. They are pollinated by flies, and what do flies like? Rotting meat! Yes, they smell like carrion. I suggest taking it outdoors when it's about to bloom. We generally spend an hour every summer in the greenhouse looking for dead mice before we realize this plant has started to flower. Reportedly used to treat hysteria by Zulu people.
