A spreading perennial frequently planted in lawns or walkways for the pleasant odor it releases when stepped on. After flowering it can be mowed like grass, leaving a dense green mat on the ground and a wonderful smell in the air. White petaled daisy-like flowers on stalks to 12". Anti-spasmodic and tonic. The essential oil is used in the food, cosmetic and perfume industries. It also has antiseptic, antibiotic and batericidal properties. Some authorities put this plant in the Chamaemelum genus.
