This plant has dark green leaves with purple veining; the stems, flowers and flower spikes are also purple. While it does flower, it is a sterile hybrid and doesn't set seed. Propagated by cuttings, once it flowers it just keeps getting larger and putting out more leaves. The whole plant has a warm sweet camphor scent and is often as wide as it is tall. A stunning ornamental specimen, it is also a good culinary Basil. This is our own hybrid introduced in 1982.
