Finely divided leaves and cream to white puffy flowers give the common name Prairie Mimosa to this midwest native. This nitrogen fixing legume's leaves are high in protein, and tea made from them has been used as a wash for itching. Seeds contain up to 38% protein and has been grown as forage for livestock. Flowers attract butterflies; seeds attact birds. Nice shrubby branching habit.
